Free Lax Fridays gives girls the opportunity to play lacrosse, improve their skills, and enjoy the game in a positive, energetic group environment. Sessions are held every Friday at Patch Reef Park and are completely free to attend.
No previous lacrosse experience is required. New players are welcome to come learn the basics, while experienced athletes can continue developing their skills, confidence, athleticism, and game understanding.
This is not private one-on-one training or a formal team practice. Players will train and play alongside other athletes and may be divided into smaller groups based on age, experience, position, and ability. The group format allows athletes to learn through competition, communication, partner work, and realistic game situations.
Each session may include:
Passing, catching, cradling, and stick control
Ground balls and possession skills
Dodging, shooting, and finishing
Defensive footwork, positioning, and communication
Speed, agility, coordination, and conditioning
Small-sided games and competitive challenges
Lacrosse IQ and game-situation instruction
Teamwork, confidence, effort, and sportsmanship
Activities will be adjusted based on the number, age, and experience level of the athletes attending. Players may come to train with friends, introduce someone new to lacrosse, or simply enjoy additional time playing the game.
Players should arrive with:
Lacrosse stick
Goggles and mouthguard
Cleats or athletic shoes
Large water bottle
Comfortable athletic clothing
Sunscreen
Goalie equipment, when applicable
Players should arrive five to ten minutes early, properly hydrated, and ready to participate.
